Introduction

These are a lot of fun. You can, braze tools and HVAC tubing with them, melt metals for sand-castingmall parts, and temper or forge various metals.
They run off a 50A 230VAC stove outlet (not great on a 30A dryer outlet) and require water cooling even for light-duty use.
These are not quite straight-forward to set up and use, so I will post additional information here as I have time.

Q&A

Q: How much does an excellent 15kW unit cost in 2024?
A: Only $630USD aka $875CAD with shipping included!
You can pay more but you will NOT get better in this style.
The two companies below have been making them for years!

Q: Do I really need a 50A 230VAC stove outlet to run the unit?
A: Yes because a 30A dryer outlet will not handle the reactive power.
These units have a built-in 60A breaker (no power factor correction).
Therefore do not entertain buying a 115VAC unit in the 15kW variety!

Q: Can I use antifreeze in my unit to protect it from winter freezing?
A: Pure propylene glycol cattle-feed supplement without any additives.
Dilute it with water and NEVER EVER use automotive antifreeze which
will destroy the electronics because it contains conductive stabilizers!

Q: What kind of water reservoir can I use with the chiller?
A: Red plastic HDPE gassoline can with vent cap on opposite side.
These are sturdy and the vent cap prevents pressure buildup.

Q: What kind of heat exchanger do I need for water cooling at each water outlet?
A: You need two separate cooling circuits comprising a heat exchanger and fan.
Salvage the condensers off an old air conditioning unit, or use an automotive oil-cooler.
These provide just enough back-pressure to help balance the outlet water flow.
Never put the cooler on the water inlet side since that provide no back pressure,
and you will ruin your pump which is usually not rated for very hot water.

Q: Why do I need two water cooling circuits?
A: The internal IGBT's and ferrites are on a separate water circuit from the external copper inductor coil.
This is because water in the coil can boil, thereby creating a vapor-block which would affect both circuits.
Therefore the water outlets have to be run separately to separate heat exchangers to mitigate any steam.

Q: What kind of water circulation pump do I need?
A: The only sensible solution is a diaphragm based water pressure boosting pump.
These are rated for a specific flow rate AND can provide the requisite pressure.
Do not be dumb like other people who buy unsuitable impeller based pumps.
Search for the famous Seaflo brand and many similar pumps will come up.
Absolute bare minimum 1.8GPM aka 6.8LPM flow at 45PSI aka 3.1Bar.
Diaphragm pumps also simplify your water circuit since they are self priming.

Q: Why does my unit have 3 water outlets instead of 2 water outlets?
A: Because you bought a unit which was designed by ignoramuses.
Every decent 15kW unit has exactly 1 inlet and exactly 2 outlets.

Q: What sort of water filter do I need?
A: Agricultural venturi-sprayer filter with fine stainless steel mesh is best.
Put on suction hose end and fit through the neck of a plastic gasoline tote.
Make sure you use pure non-conductive de-ionized or distilled water!
